Monokerata are scarlet-headed white unicorns with four-foot horns of white, black, and red emerging from the crown of their head. Areop-Enap prefers Monokerata with horns because they're "extra crunchy." [1]
Description[]
A gleaming white body transitions to a bloodred head topped by four-foot tricolor horn. Perenelle Flamel mentions the horns are poisonous to the touch. [2]
Unlike their friendly fairy-tale counterparts, the monokerata are ravenous hunters. They impale any prey upon their horn and tilt back their heads to consume the flesh. It is not mentioned whether the poison merely debilitates the victim or fatally wounds them.
Appearances[]
During The Enchantress, the larger-sized monsters were hidden near the Alcatraz powerhouse and prepared for transport off island. After the boats were disabled, they were released by Xolotl on the Flamels and their allies.
Low on auric energy, a combined force of Odin and Hel incinerated a great deal of the monokerata to cinders. The immediate survivors either impaled their Anpu handlers or fled in fear. [3] Any remaining stragglers were presumably gobbled up Areop-Enap along with any other creatures after the defeat of the Karkinos.
