A Necromancer is a Magician who can use Necromancy, the ability to raise, communicate, and control the dead. There are multiple known necromancers in the series, including: Dr. John Dee and Josh Newman, and others that have shown some abilities in that area, such as Perenelle Flamel. Dee was taught necromancy by his teacher, Roger Bacon, also a necromancer. They aren't as common as other kinds of magicians because it is considered a very dark area of magic.
