Richard and Sara Newman were the aliases used by the adoptive parents of Sophie and Josh Newman. Richard and Sara were renowned paleontologists and archaeologists who specialized in fossils; as their work frequently required lengthy trips around the world, they were rarely around in person for their children.
True Identity

In The Warlock, it was revealed that Sara and Richard were merely human aliases of Isis and Osiris, the Earthlord masters of Dr. John Dee and the most powerful of the Dark Elders. In an effort to somewhat mend the Twins' sense of betrayal, Isis and Osiris confessed that while their many trips had been a front for their plot to conquer ancient Danu Talis, they really did have a passion for archaeology - though they were interested in unearthing powerful eldritch knowledge rather than prehistoric plants and animals. Notwithstanding their adoptive parents' explanations, the Twins felt that they had been manipulated, and determined that they would foil the Earthlords' plans, precipitating in Isis and Osiris' deaths and the fall of Danu Talis.
